Recognition, awards, etc.

Staff and students in statistics at USQ have won a number of awards and received community and professional recognition. Some are listed below:
  • 2003: Daniel Burrell (Honours student) was awarded an ARC Linkage scholarship to study a PhD in livestock genomics (at UNE).
  • 2003: Andrew Powierski (Honours student) won a bursary to attend the National Undergraduate Statistical Careers Summit at ANU, Canberra.
  • 2002: Dr Shahjahan Khan won the Queensland Multicultural Service Award.
  • 2002: Dr Peter Dunn won the EJ Pitman Prize for the best talk by a young statistician at the Australian Statistics Conference.
  • 2001: Dr Peter Dunn won one of three prizes for student talks at the International Workshop in Statistical Modelling in Odense, Denmark.
  • 1993: Dr Ashley Plank won the BH Neumann Award for "for important contributions over many years to the enrichment of mathematics learning in Australia and its region".
