Department of Mathmatics and Computing has been hosting a research day for quite a few years. The big success of previous years turn it into sort of annual department retreat. The objective of this special conference is to communicate the research project and ideas within the Department staff and Postgraduate research students in order to explore the oppurtunities to make collaborative research or produce competitive research grant applications. More specific aims include:
To raise awareness amongst staff and students of the range of research activities in the Department
To facilitate collaboration and sharing of ideas
To build awareness of Grant oppuntunities and support for innovation
Format
Participants are mainly all of our staff memeber and PhD students at the
department, and two guest speakers: Prof. gerry Farty and Mr. Gary branden.
Each participtant prepares a big poster describing their research project and possible application areas. A few pretigious speakers are invited to give a presentation at the begining of each session, followed by a group discussion. The session chair will summary the discussion at the end of the session.
