Dr. Zhongwei
Zhang is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Mathematics and Computing and
has been with the University for more than 8 years.
Zhongwei has been enjoying
teaching. His teaching interests include advanced C/C++ and Java Programming, Algorithms
and Data Structures, Computer Communication and Internetworking, and Linux/Unix
System Programming and Administration. He has been teaching Computer
Communications and Internetworking for five years and then Linux System Administration
for another couple of years. Zhongwei is currently teaching e-Commerce and
Database integration while helping first year
students hands-on exercises in Software Development Tools.
Zhongwei has a broad research
interest. His current research interests include computer networking and
modeling using statistical and AI techniques, computer network simulation using
NS2, modeling wireless sensor networks using Markov Chain. He has successfully supervised a number of PhD
and Masters students. Dr Zhi
Li was supervised by him and was the first graduate in the area of networking
from the Department. With his current PhD students, Zhongwei
is also working on the computer network security. Zhongwei
has been the Departmental Research and Postgraduate (R&PG) Coordinator from
2003-2005 and the Computing Coordinator from 2005-2007. After he came back from
ADL, he has taken the rein back as the R&PG Coordinator in the second
semester this year.
In past few years, he has been
active in organizing international conferences and has been the reviewer for
international journals.
