TeX Catalogue (Complete Home Edition) by Graham Williams
Welcome to the XML-based and XSLT generated version of The TeX
Catalogue Online, Complete Home Edition. This is a listing of entries in the TeX
Catalogue and may take a little time to load, but is hopefully worth
it. Have a look at the Catalogue
Preface for alternative ways of accessing the catalogue.
Icons associated with entries in the catalogue allow you to:
view the directory on CTAN
view documentation (possibly many)
view documentation in PDF format (requires the acroread plugin)
jump to the package's home page
download a gzip'd tar file from a nearby CTAN node (not supported by all nodes)
download a gzip'd tar file from ftp.dante.de
Other icons simply provide further information about the package:
The license type, version (if known), and the date of the last
change made to each particular Catalogue entry are also provided.

| a0poster | Provides fonts in sizes of 12pt up to 107pt. |
|---|
|
Provides fonts in sizes of 12pt up to 107pt and also makes
sure that in math formulas the symbols appear in the right
size. Can also creates a PostScript header file for dvips which ensures that the poster will
be printed in the right size. Supported sizes are DIN A0,
DIN A1, DIN A2 and DIN A3.

|
| a2ac | AFM to AFM plus Composites. |
|---|
|
Enables the use os PostScript fonts while typesetting texts in
languages where accented letters are used. The font doesn't
need to contain the complete alphabet of a given language;
the presence of mere accents themselves (no whole accented
characters) is sufficient. The configuration files of the a2ac
program are independent on the PostScript font encoding and
on the typesetting system encoding. The program may be used
to prepare a font for any typesetting system, especially TeX.

| a4 | Support for A4 paper sizes. |
|---|
|
Provides support for A4 paper sizes, however it is mostly
superseded by the a4paper option of LaTeX and by the geometry package. It does, however
also define the extra option of widemargins.

| abbrevs | Text abbreviations in LaTeX. |
|---|
|
A LaTeX package defining "abbreviation macros," which expand to defined
text and insert following space intelligently, based on context. They
can also expand to one thing the first time they are used and another
thing on subsequent invocations. Thus they can be abbreviations in two
senses, in the source and in the document. Also includes a facility for
suffixes like 1900\BC and 6:00\PM which correctly handles following
periods. This package was implemented by Matt Swift and catalogued for CTAN. |

|
| abc2mtex | Notate tunes stored in abc notation. |
|---|
|
A package to notate tunes stored in an ascii format (abc
notation). One of the most important aims of abc notation,
and perhaps one that distinguishes it from most, if not
all, computer-readable musical languages is that it can be
easily read by humans. The package produces files that can
be processed with MusicTeX.

|
| accfonts | Font manipulation utilities (mkt1font and vpl2vpl). |
|---|
|
The accfonts package contains two utilities to permit easy
manipulation of fonts, in particular the creation of unusual
accented characters. Mkt1font works on Type 1 PostScript fonts,
and vpl2vpl works on TeX virtual fonts. Both programs read in a
font, together with a simple definition file containing lines
such as "128 z acute"; they then write out a new version of the
font with the requested new characters in the numerical slots
specified. Great care is taken over the positioning of accents,
and over the provision of kerning information for new
characters; mkt1font also generates suitable "hints" to enhance
quality at small sizes or poor resolutions. The programs are
written in Perl.

| acroread | View pdf formatted files. |
|---|
|
Acrobat (acroread) is a tool from Adobe for reading Adobe
PDF files. It is available for a variety of architectures,
and can be used as a plugin for Netscape. Adobe's distill
(you have to buy that one) can be used to produce PDF files
from PostScript. This provides a very useful way of accessing
PostScript documents on the Web since PDF compresses the
document internally. Best to use PostScript fonts in your
LaTeX documents to make the most of it though.

| aeguill | Add several kinds of guillemets to the ae fonts. |
|---|
|
A package adding several kinds of guillemets (polish cmr,
cyrillic cmr, lasy and ec) to the ae
fonts. It is useful if you are using the ae fonts to produce
PDF files, since the additional guillemets exist in Type 1
versions (and for free, except in ec's case).

|
| afterpage | Execute command after each page. |
|---|
|
Implements a command that causes the commands specified
in its argument to be expanded after the curent page is
output. Useful to flush floats, for example. For example,
LaTeX's float positioning mechanism sometimes gets overloaded
and all floating figures and table drift to the end of the
document. One may flush out all the unprocessed floats by
issuing a \clearpage command, but this has the effect of
making the current page end prematurely. Now you can issue
\afterpage{\clearpage} and the current page will be filled
up with text as usual, but then a \clearpage| command will
flush out all the floats before the next text page begins.

| Algorithm2e | Floating algorithm environment with algorithmic keywords
(re)definition feature |
|---|
|
Algorithm2e is an environment for writing algorithms. An
algorithm is defined as a floating object like figures. It
provides macros that allow you to create different keywords,
thus a set of predefined key word is given. You can also change
the typography of the keywords. The environment allows you to
have vertical lines delimiting block of instructions. It defines
also different sort of algorithms such as Procedure or Function
allowing name of this functions to +be reused in common text or
other algorithms.

| alnumsec | Alphanumeric section numbering. |
|---|
|
This package allows you to use alphanumeric section numbering,
e.g.: A. Introduction; III. International Law. Its output is
similar to alphanum.sty, but you can use the standard LaTeX

| amsthm | LaTeX package for theorem setup (AMS style) |
|---|
|
A LaTeX package that facilitates the kind of theorem setup
typically needed in American Mathematical Society publications.
The package consists of the
theorem setup of the AMS document classes (amsart, amsbook, etc)
encapsulated in LaTeX package form so that it can be used with other
document classes. If you have a
standard installation of LaTeX, you should find that amsthm is
already present because it is included in the AMS-LaTeX distribution.
The ntheorem package may also be of
interest as an alternative.
