Description:

The data give the time to SMS the following message on a mobile phone: the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog The message had to be typed with no errors, no abbreviations, and no use of the phone dictionary. Each subject had the message in front of them. The time was measured using a stop watch (to 0.01 seconds!)

There are four variables (plus an ID) on 60 measurements (two each for 30 individuals)

Variables:

ID	An identifier
Age	The person's age (in completed years)
AgeGroup	Ther age group; one of Teens or Over30
Time	The time (in seconds) to SMS the above message
Phone	The type of phone used; either their Own phone or a Control phone using a control mobile phone

Data Quality:

There are no missing values.

Notes:

Many analyses are suggested:

• A paired test for the speed at which people can SMS a message within age groups, using own and control phones
• A two-independent samples test for the speed at which people can SMS a message, using teens versus over 30s
• Is age relevant, or merely the age groups (ie teens who grew up with SMS, and those who did not)? (In fact, the effect of age changes direction depending on the Age Group for the Own phones)
• Can one quantify the impact of using one's own phone, and does it differ between the age groups?
