Dr Peter Dunn is a Senior Lecturer in Statistics at USQ. He completed his PhD (Likelihood-Based Inference for Tweedie Generalized Linear Models) at the University of Queensland in 2001 under the supervision of Dr Gordon Smyth. He completed undergraduate studies in mathematics (with first class honours: B. Inf. Tech. (Hons)) and science (B. App. Sci (Dist)) at the University of Southern Queensland.
During the first half of 2007, Assistant Professor Toshio Ohnishi visited from the Institue for Statistical Mathematics, Tokyo, Japan.
In the second half of 2005, visited the Queensland Department of Primary Industries and Forestry (DPI&F), where he used to work.
During the first half of 2001, he visited the Department of Mathematics at the University of Queensland working with Dr Gordon Smyth.
His main interests are: statistics education, generalised linear models, statistical climatology and statistical computing.
He has previously worked at worked at the Agricultural Production Systems Research Unit (APSRU) (a joint Queensland Department of Primary Industries (DPI), Queensland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Commonwealth Scientific, Industrial and Research Organisation (CSIRO) and New South Wales Agriculture (NSWAg) venture, and now part of the Queensland Centre for Climate Applications (QCCA) ). As a Scientist (Climatology), he was applying mathematical and statistical techniques to climate forecast systems, working under Dr Roger Stone.
