Department's DVD-ROM—
The Department creates a DVD-ROM each year. The DVD contains a complete Debian GNU/Linux distribution ready to install on your computer. The DVD can be purchased from the USQ Bookshop.

All attempts have been made to reduce the cost of the DVD to a minimum. This DVD-ROM should only have to be purchased once at the start of your program. The Linux distribution installed should be compatible with course software for a number of years.

As part of the install process most of the software required for the Department's courses will also be installed.

Note: The popular Linux distribution Ubuntu, which is based on Debian, does not have on its free CDROM any of the software required for the Department's courses. Ubuntu is not recommended as a replacement for the Department's DVD.
