The Bioinformatics Interest Group at the University of Southern Queensland invites staff, students and external participants with interests in Mathematics, Computing and Biology to meet on a regular basis to consider emerging issues in the area of computational biology.

The Bioinformatics Interest Group (BIG) of the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is a multidisciplinary and multi departmental group located at the faculty of Sciences of USQ. The group's vision of future strategies in post-genomic research is based on systems biology. The BIG main objectives are:

to encourage joint research outcomes arising from the synergy between biology, mathematics, computing and engineering
to foster teaching and research in emerging areas of Bioinformatics and Systems Biology.
